Oak Support Beams

Amongst the wide range of building material options, one of the oldest remains one of the most popular; oak beams. While there are a large number of materials which are more reliable than wood, it has a number of benefits, and many people find the appearance of exposed oak beams desirable.

Oak beams, besides the attributes which makes it a good building material to use, can actually add value to a home. This is because many people consider oak beams to be a desirable feature, as it fits a specific interior design style.

Oak beams are generally cheaper and easier to construct with than metal equivalents. Thanks to this fact, they are still widely used today to build homes.

The downside to this material is that it can’t bear as much weight as its alternatives, and its lifespan is shortened drastically by water damage and they also present a greater fire risk than metal, as all timber does.
